Information in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms

Virtual and private memory usage of the Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) application process HsvDatasource.exe, continues to increase over time.
Cause

This issue is caused by a feature in the Oracle Provider for OLE DB client release 10.2 and later, called Statement Caching and how HFM uses its database connections. Unpublished BUG 6827563 has been submitted for this issue.

Solution

To resolve the high memory usage enable Statement Caching, but set the configured value to a low setting. Recommended value is between 1 and 10. To implement this solution, edit the following value in Windows Registry on HFM application server:

Key: Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Oracle\Key_Homename\Oledb
Value Name: StmtCacheSize
Value (decimal): 10
Where, Key_Homename refers to the appropriate Oracle home. After registry modification stop and restart the HFM application processes.
