FDM Issues
Failure to Create a New FDM Application on 64-bit Windows
Issue: When creating a new application using FDM Workbench Win32 Client, it returns the
error: “Error: Database user ID and password are required for login”.
This error is returned when the information provided on the database configuration page is not correct or has become invalid. This error message can also be returned when the Oracle 32-bit Database Client is not installed on a 64-bit Windows machine.
Solution: When using the Oracle software on 64-bit Windows:
1. Install the 32-bit Oracle Database Client on the 64-bit machine.
2. Reconfigure using the 32-bit client and reboot the server.
Appropriate database providers include: (a) Oracle Provider for OLE DB installed on
Workbench Win32 Client machine, and (b) Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server.
These providers must exist on the user's system in order for Oracle Hyperion Financial Data
Quality Management to connect to the database successfully via the Workbench Client. On 64-
bit Windows, the 32-bit and 64-bit Oracle Software gets installed separately and used separately.
The 64-bit Oracle software will not recognize if the 32-bit Oracle software is installed. They
operate separately when both are installed on a 64-bit Windows platform.

FDM Application Creation Issue
Unable to Create FDM Application or Configure Shared Services Provider on Windows 2008 R2 [ID 1324303.1]
Applicable to these versions 11.1.2.1.000 and later [Release: 11.1 and later ]
Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management
OS Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) - Version: 2008 R2
Symptoms
When attempting to connect to shared services with the CSS provider in the authentication providers tab of the Load Balance Configuration, the connection process fails and returns "Active-X Component Can't Create Object".
This is occurring with version 11.1.2.1 on a Windows 2008 R2 server.
Root Cause
Currently the EPM System Installer does not properly register a necessary file for FDM to use to connect to shared services successfully. When attempting to connect to HSS from the Load Balance Configuration the process fails and results in the error message.
The cause of the issue is justified by Unpublished Bug 12540570.
