Symptoms

When attempting to clone E-Business Suite Release 12.0.0, the following error occurs.

Clone procedure for "perl adcfgclone.pl dbTechStack " returns error
StackTrace:
java.lang.NullPointerException
at java.util.Hashtable.put(Unknown Source)
at oracle.apps.ad.context.CloneContext.getInputFromUsers(CloneContext.java:888)
at oracle.apps.ad.context.CloneContext.doClone(CloneContext.java:575)
at oracle.apps.ad.context.CloneContext.main(CloneContext.java:4647)

RC-50004: Error occurred in CloneContext:
null
Context file creation not successful

Changes

upgraded to r12 testing cloning

Cause

Only entering the domain name at the prompt causes the issue. It should state enter host.domain






.

Solution

To implement the solution, please execute the following steps:


Workaround

1. When prompted for hostname input - nodename.domain.name. Then the prompt for domain name is skipped.

NOTE: Also, having the domain name set at the operating system level avoids the error.
